BCTC Breaks Ground on New Georgetown Campus

Bluegrass Community and Technical College broke ground in Georgetown Monday on a new educational facility.  The project has garnered significant financial support from the Kentucky General Assembly, the governor’s office, and local manufacturing interests.  BCTC President Dr. Augusta Julian says the building, known as the Advanced Manufacturing Center, will provide training in a variety of disciplines.

“The focus of the building will be the skilled technicians.  All kinds of things will be here like electricity, pneumatics, machining, welding, all those things that a good technician needs to keep a high tech manufacturing facility running these days," she said.

In addition to combination work/study programs in these disciplines, the facility will also provide traditional academic services to students in the surrounding community.  Companies such as Toyota (which provided 1.6 million in support) want to use the training from this facility in their local employment pipelines.  Dr. Julian says BCTC aims to complete the facility by the spring of 2017
