Brown Fills Vacant Council Seat

lexingtonky.gov

The newest member of the Lexington Fayette Urban County Council has been sworn in.

Mayor Jim Gray has appointed James Brown as the newest Lexington Fayette Urban County Council member, filling the first district seat and brown has accepted.  “When there’s a call for leadership, I believe it’s our responsibility to answer that call”

Brown’s family has lived in Lexington’s first district for three generations.  “I feel that I know the first district intimately.  The residents, the diversity, their concerns.  I’ve known those for a long time and I’m committed to engaging with community partners and working with other council members to address the needs of that district”

Some of those issues include economic and workforce development, public safety, additional programming through parks and recreation, education and historic preservation.  Brown is filling the seat left vacant when Mayor Gray appointed Chris Ford as Lexington’s Social Service Commissioner.
