Poll Reveals Close Republican Gubernatorial Primary Contest

The four big name candidates vying for the Republican nomination for governor in 2015 have their work cut out for them according to a new poll by Remington Research Group.

“A good old fashioned Kentucky horse race" - that’s what Titus Bond with Remington Research Group is calling the GOP gubernatorial primary.

Their poll found Agriculture Commissioner James Comer with a slight edge – 22 percent – over his closest competitor, Matt Bevin. The Tea Party favorite garnered the support of 19 percent of respondents, while Louisville businessman Hal Heiner won 18 percent. Former Kentucky Supreme Court Justice Will T. Scott trailed with just 5 percent.

But there’s still a lot of room to move, with the poll showing 35 percent of voters undecided.

The survey polled 1066 likely Republican primary voters between January 27 and 28 with a margin of error of +/-2.98 percent.

Josh James fell in love with college radio at Western Kentucky University's student station, New Rock 92 (now Revolution 91.7). After working as a DJ and program director, he knew he wanted to come home to Lexington and try his hand in public radio.
