Kentucky Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes has announced a rally next week to reveal which office she will seek this year. The announcement Friday afternoon said after the rally Monday in Lexington, she will go to Frankfort to file candidacy papers but doesn't mention which office she will seek.
Grimes, a Democrat, is in her first term as secretary of state and could seek re-election. Other likely offices she might seek include governor or attorney general.
Last year, Grimes unsuccessfully challenged Republican U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell, who was elected to a sixth term.
The rally is at 12:30 p.m. EST at the Lyric Theatre & Cultural Arts Center.
The deadline to file for statewide office is 4 p.m. Tuesday.
