In addition to the official Republican and Tea Party responses, U.S. Sen. Rand Paul posted his own reaction to President Obama’s State of the Union Address online Tuesday.

The potential 2016 presidential candidate begins the video by renewing his call for term limits on members of Congress and echoing Sen. Joni Ernst’s sentiments in her response – namely, that the president’s party takes hard-working Americans in flyover country for granted.

"Before I ran for office, I practiced medicine for nearly 20 years in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Liberal elites fly over my small town, but they don't understand us. They simply seek to impose their will upon us,  from what insurance we can buy to what light bulbs we can use to how we can generate electricity," he says.

While the president is pushing for a tax increase on top earners to ease the pinch on the middle class, Paul prescribes across-the -board tax cuts and reduced spending to balance the budget. He also criticizes Obama’s foreign policy, which he argues has left the United States more vulnerable to terrorist attack.

Paul also took to Twitter during the address to critique the president’s performance (see below).
