Quarles To Announce Ag. Commissioner Decision Monday

article.wn.com

Another Republican may announce a run for Kentucky Agriculture Commissioner as early as Monday. According to CN2 Pure Politics, state Rep. Ryan Quarles has scheduled a “special announcement” in Georgetown.

Quarles, will be joined by GOP gubernatorial candidate and current Agriculture Commissioner James Comer, Senate Majority Floor Leader Damon Thayer, Sen. Paul Hornback and other elected officials at 10 a.m. at the Georgetown John Deere dealership.

Quarles told The Lexington Herald-Leader last week he planned to discuss the race with his family over the Thanksgiving holiday.

The 31-year-old farmer and attorney, who serves on the House Agriculture and Small Business, Banking and Insurance and Judiciary committees, emerged as a potential candidate for the office after fellow Republican Hornback, said he would not run for the post in 2015.

The agriculture spot will be open as Comer mounts a gubernatorial bid rather than seek a second term.
