Fayette Health Dept. Consolidating Public Health Services Under One Roof

The next time you make a trip the Fayette County Health Department, the task of locating the various public health services will likely be a lot easier.

Whether you’re looking to acquire a food handler card, obtain birth or death records, or inquire about WIC services, the address will soon be the same.

Health Dept. spokesperson Kevin Hall says it became feasible to bring the operations together at the department’s 650 Newtown Pike headquarters because of decisions made by previous tenant HealthFirst Bluegrass.

"They have moved out to two different locations in the community on Alexandria Drive and Bryan Station Road and this is also in preparation for them eventually getting a brand new clinic out on Southland Drive thanks to a federal grant. With the relocation of HealthFirst, we have a lot of space that can be used here at 650 Newtown so it just made a lot of sense to bring these Health Dept. public health services under one roof," he explains.

That process is still underway, but Monday marks one agency’s return to the Newtown. Starting November 17, anyone seeking a food service permit will be directed to the Environmental Health office’s new spot at  headquarters.

The Public Health Clinic will follow on December 17.
