Mayor Jim Gray will have four more years to lead the city of Lexington.
Gray is the first Mayor to be re-elected to a second term in more than a decade. He pulled in two-thirds of the votes and called the win “humbling” and vowed to continue to put job growth at the top of his priority list. Former Lexington Police Chief Anthany Beatty made the growth of crime in the city his major platform while gray focused on continuing growth. The two met for 12 debates across the city leading up to Tuesday’s election, including their final meeting last week for WUKY’s town and gown.
During his acceptance speech Gray said “Anthany and I had five more debates than Lincoln and Douglas did in 1848.” In his concession speech, Beatty thanked family, volunteers and countless supporters for their efforts.
