UK Survey Finds Support For Capilouto On Rupp, Infrastructure

The evaluation process for University of Kentucky president Eli Capilouto is moving to the full Board of Trustees.

The smaller Executive Board heard the results of a pair of surveys rating Capilouto’s performance Tuesday.

An evaluation by members of eight constituent groups including faculty, community leaders, and government officials gave the president generally high marks, with several applauding Capilouto’s opposition to the city’s massive Rupp Arena redesign project.

Among the concerns raised: a perceived lack of focus on graduate education, research, and communication with faculty.

Board chair Britt Brockman said transparency is often cited as an area that needs to be revisited.

"Many of the constituents always want more information. They're always asking for more transparency in the process and we can always improve on that, as can the president," he said.

The survey results along with the president’s self-evaluation now head to the full board for consideration. Final recommendations will be delivered to the president in September.
