If you are a fan of music, theater and dance, the Lexington arts community has your ticket this weekend.
Numerous groups in the Lexington arts community are famous for showcasing local and professional talent during the summer months and this year is no exception. Three musical productions are currently running and set to close on Sunday. Studio Players takes audiences along on the journey of three aspiring country singers hoping to reach stardom at the Grand Ole Opry. Jessica Slaton Greene, who teaches music to high school students during the year, is the Musical Director of Honky Tonk. Greene is also on-stage this summer across town in Moondance’s production of Little Shop of Horrors.
If you have little ones to entertain, Lexington Children’s Theatre is the place to be as they finish their run of Cinderella. Director Jeremy Kissling says one of the biggest hits of the show has been the transformation of Cinderella from country bumpkin to princess heading to the ball. The costume change takes about 10 seconds and happens right before your eyes.
And for one weekend only, Ballet Under the stars takes the stage at Woodland Park for the group’s 25th season.
