Heather French Henry Will Head Veterans Affairs

Governor Steve Beshear announced that Heather French Henry will be Commissioner of the Kentucky Department of Veterans Affairs.

She will replace Ken Lucas, who’s been asked by the Governor to oversee completion of the construction of the state’s fourth veterans nursing home in Radcliff.

Henry posted on facebook “ I am deeply honored to be given this opportunity to continue to serve our military veterans. As many of you know I have been working nationally on veterans issues since 1999 and as the daughter of a veteran I am keenly aware of the issues confronting our nation's heroes. I look forward to serving those who have sacrificed so much for our freedom. I would appreciate your prayers and support in this new role."

Henry started the Heather French Foundation for Veterans in December 1999, shortly after being crowned Miss America 2000. Her foundation partners with public and private organizations to assist veterans and their families. She will begin her duties as Commissioner on July first.
