Kentucky Emergency Management is coming in for more criticism in the second volume of State Auditor Adam Edelen’s annual statewide audit.
The report released on Monday contains 12 finds – 5 from a previous report - related to the KYEM and its umbrella agency, the Department of Military Affairs.
Edelen’s office had previously alleged employee intimidation and the hiding of improper expenditures for alcohol and entertainment. Auditor spokesperson Stephanie Hoelescher says signs from the organization so far have not been encouraging.
"Rather than owning up to the problems that have long plagued this agency, he is fearful that this may be an indication that the reforms that are needed to protect taxpayer dollars and insure that this agency isn't districted from public protection are not happening," she says.
In all, the statewide audit contained 76 findings with recommendations and notes more than $3.7 million in questionable costs.
