A three-day program designed to prevent fatalities on Interstate 75 is being hailed a success in Kentucky.
Kentucky State Police say the detail called "Staying Alive on 75" took place the last weekend in March, and no fatalities occurred on I-75 in Kentucky during that period.
Working together on the detail were state and local law enforcement agencies in six states along the I-75 corridor — Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, Ohio, Michigan and Kentucky. It is part of an effort by the International Association of Chiefs of Police to reduce traffic fatalities in the U.S. by 15 percent this year.
State police say three additional "Staying Alive on 75" weekends are planned in coming months.
