Unemployment Up In 78 Ky. Counties

FRANKFORT, Ky. — The Kentucky Office of Employment and Training says unemployment rates have risen in 78 counties between May 2012 and May 2013, decreased in 32 counties and remained the same in 10.

Magoffin County had the highest unemployment rate in the state at 17.5 percent. It was followed by Fulton County with a rate of 17.2 percent and Leslie County with a rate of 17 percent.

The county with the lowest unemployment rate was Woodford at 5.8 percent. It was followed by Oldham County at 6.3 percent and Fayette County at 6.4 percent. Other counties with unemployment rates under 6.9 percent included Ohio, Scott, Anderson, Daviess, Hancock, Franklin and Jessamine counties.
