LEXINGTON, Ky. - Police officers in Lexington are using an online tool to keep track of crime trends across the city, and the information is also available to the public.
RAIDS Onlineis a free service that pinpoints where crimes occurred on a map. Police spokeswoman Sherelle Roberts says users can narrow the search to a specific type of crime or to a specific neighborhood.
“This is good for parents who have small children or people who are thinking about moving into a new neighborhood, school administrators, media members, pretty much anybody who wants to know what’s going on in Lexington can use this tool.”
The data on RAIDS Online is updated daily and keeps track of crimes for one year. Lexington Police have used online crime maps before, but Roberts says RAIDS Online is more user-friendly.
