Lexington, KY – A legally blind teenager who wandered away from a Lexington horse farm has been found.
16-year-old Alexa Johnson walked away from Robert Murphy Stables on Parkers Mill Road after an argument with her mother around 6:30 Tuesday evening. Police were notified at 11 that night when Johnson failed to return home. Sherelle Roberts with the Lexington Police Department says officials used a helicopter and thermal imagining devices, as well as more traditional methods in their search.
"This search is a little bit different from a traditional search when a child goes missing because this did involve a 16-year-old, an individual who left willfully, was not taken, did not go missing," Roberts said.
But it was Johnson's family who eventually located her Wednesday morning. Police say this is not the first time the teen has wandered off.
