City To Hold Public Meeting On Distillery District Plans

By Alan Lytle

Lexington, KY – The city's Division of Engineering has been discussing possible development plans for Lexington's Distillery District; specifically the area of town that encompasses Manchester Street from Forbes Road to Oliver Lewis Way.

Project director Bob Bayert says they'll be seeking citizen input on infrastructure and other ideas that will also affect the plans of the Rupp Arena Arts and Entertainment District Task Force.

"We will be meeting with those folks. Currently our two project areas abut one another, right at Oliver Lewis Way. So we are certainly looking for some continuity and some compatible ideas to work between the two."

The Distillery District is home to Buster's Billiards and Backroom, which also recently hosted a Rupp District public forum. That group will hold another public meeting November 30th at the Lexington Children's Theater.

Meanwhile, the Distillery District meeting takes place tonight at 6 at the Carver Center Cafeteria on Patterson Street.
