Lexington, KY – The University of Kentucky Gaines Center will present a series of events focusing on religion and its place in the modern world this week.
The events are part of the Bale Boone Symposium, a three day series of talks on a particular theme. Robert Rabel with the Gaines Center for the Humanities says this year's topic, Religion in the 21st Century, is broader than past themes.
"By talking about religion in this age, we're hitting a subject that is of great public interest," Rabel says.
The speakers include several prominent authors and professors including Bart Ehrman, Jerry Coyne, and Jonathan Miller. The presenters will offer different points of view on the compatibility of faith, history, and science. The first event begins tonight at 6 in the recital hall of UK's Singletary Center. All talks are free and open to the public.
