Lexington, KY – Advocates for a fairness ordinance barring discrimination based on sexual orientation are planning a rally ahead of tomorrow's Berea city council meeting. If past meetings are any indication, Tuesday's gathering could be lively.

The debate has been brewing in Berea for months: Should the city follow the lead of Lexington, Louisville, and Covington and enact an ordinance banning discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity?

Both sides have been vocal at past meetings, with some, like Pastor Russ Westbrook, worrying the ordinance will do "damage to freedom of speech," while others, such as Gina Chamberlain, saying failure to pass the law is tantamount to a tacit approval of discrimination.

Berea's council is currently considering the formation of a commission on human rights, but the proposal's lack of anti-discrimination protections has fairness supporters taking to the streets. Bereans for Fairness are set to rally and march to the city council meeting Tuesday.
