LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Kentucky elections officials are reporting no early problems, but low turnout for a primary election featuring the race for the Republican gubernatorial nomination.
Lindsay Zoeller, a spokeswoman for Secretary of State Elaine Walker, said as of 9:30 a.m. EDT, there had been no major issues.
Walker estimated that about 10 percent of voters across Kentucky would take part in the election Tuesday. If the prediction proves true, only the 1999 primary, which drew 6.4 percent of voters, will have drawn a smaller percentage in the last two decades.
Republicans are choosing from a trio of tickets in deciding the gubernatorial nominee and will also choose a nominee for state auditor. Democrats are choosing a state treasurer nominee, and both parties will choose nominees for agriculture commissioner and secretary of state.
