FRANKFORT, Ky. -- – A rigorous 23-week training session began Sunday for 90 men and women hoping to become Kentucky State Troopers.
The cadets in the KSP Academy will be tested physically, mentally, and emotionally. The training is tough. Captain Phil Crumpton says the typical drop-out rate is around 20 percent.
This latest class of Trooper recruits is comprised of 87 men and three women from throughout Kentucky and eight other states.
They will receive classroom and field instruction in several subjects, including constitutional law, use of force, weapons training, hostage negotiations, evidence collection, drug identification, and sex crimes.
