Central Kentucky Dance Theatre will be presenting their Spring Gala: Featuring " Cinderella" at Frederick Douglass High School on March 1st at 2:00 and 6:00. CKDT is Lexington's first Community Ballet Company and their dancers are from the entire Central Kentucky Region. CKDT's Spring Gala will consist of a showcase of guest performers from the region in all areas of the arts followed by the classical ballet, " Cinderella" performed by Central Kentucky Dance Theatre.

Cinderella will be played by Lawrenceburg Native Claudia Schubert ( 2:00 Performance) and Winchester Native, Alaina Sandlin ( 6:00 Performance) Kate Byerly of Lexington will portray the Fairy Godmother in both productions. This performance of Cinderella is an original work created in 2019 in Huntington, West Virginia by Artistic Director: Leah Summers. The work consists of music from the original Prokofiev score as well as the 2015 Cinderella movie soundtrack and also selected classical pieces. This version of the story of Cinderella highlights the theme of being " Courageous and Kind." that signifies Cinderella as a true role model and heroine in this story. Summers loves to see ballets not only be beautiful but also entertaining and aimed toward inspiring young people to love the arts. Some new characters that children in the audience will surely love will be Gabby and Jazzy, Cinderella's special mice friends as well as Bella the Dog who must battle the evil Lucia the Cat. Of course the Step-Sisters and Step-Mother will also entertain everyone with their over the top actions! Cinderella is a classic love story that will always warm our hearts because it teaches us that beauty is who we are and how we treat others. This light in us will be seen and admired by not only our one true love, but also everyone that we encounter. Cinderella the ballet is a feel good story with beauty, love, comedy and a great happy ending.
