Vigil at UK
The University of Kentucky’s Air Force ROTC programs, in coordination with UK Pershing Rifles, will be hosting a memorial vigil.
The ceremony begins Sept. 11 at 8:46 a.m., noting the moment the first plane struck the North Tower. The vigil will last through the day until 6 p.m.
The vigil will take place on the front lawn of UK’s main building, with visitor parking available at the Cornerstone garage at 409 South Limestone.
Names of the victims who died in the attacks will be read by ROTC cadets and members of Pershing Rifles, UK says.
Global War on Terror Dedication in Lexington
The Global War on Terror Memorial will be formally dedicated at 2 p.m. Friday, September 11, 2026, at Veterans Park, 650 Southpoint Drive in Lexington.
Dedication of Memorial Plaza in Danville
The City of Danville, the City of Danville Fire Department, the Danville Police Department, and the Danville 911 Center are hosting a dedication of the First Responders Memorial Plaza, located in front of Central Fire Station at 461 W Main Street.

Memorial Walk in Anderson County
The Anderson County Fire Protection District is inviting the community, first responders, and surrounding agencies to join a 9/11 Memorial Walk. The walk will start at 8 a.m. on Saturday, September 12, at the Anderson County Community Park.
