Colorado-based developers were seeking to demolish buildings in the Woodland Triangle to build a nearly 5,200 square foot mix of shops and living space.
But the Lexington Herald-Leader reports community objections have quashed the planned seven-story development. More than 150 people showed up at a meeting in May with Titan Investments, the builders — with many expressing their opposition.
The now-shelved development mirrored a number of other major student housing complex projects around campus, additions that have raised concerns about parking and congestion.
Titan attorney Bruce Simpson told the Leader that the company felt there was "just so much animus, it was not a healthy choice to pursue."
