Gatton Park officially open

After a decade of planning and fundraising, the ribbon has been cut and Gatton Park on the Town Branch welcomed the community to explore the outdoor recreation space that was once a parking lot behind Rupp Arena.
Saturday's celebration of the park's opening coincides with the city's 250 year celebration.

It features an amphitheater with a covered stage complete with lights and sound for concerts, a playground, water features, art, walking trails and educational stopping points.
Gatton Park will be a hub for concerts, beginning with The Beach Boys and Kansas this fall.
