No one was surprised when the reigning Olympic Champions, Germany’s Michael Jung and FischerChipmunk FRH took the lead after a flawless dressage test on Thursday. What was astonishing was the score - a jaw dropping 18.6 penalties, smashing his own record for the level that he set on his last visit here in 2022.

The next six places on the leaderboard are filled with riders that competed at last summer’s Olympics in Paris. New Zealand’s husband and wife duo Tim and Jonelle Price are in 2nd and 6th places respectively. Their team mate Clarke Johnstone is tied with Tim in 2nd.

Boyd Martin is the highest placed US rider in 5th currently on his Paris Olympics horse, Federman B. Each horse and rider combination competes in all three phases together.

Dressage will wrap up Friday afternoon and cross country, the real test, takes place on Saturday. The show-jumping finale on Sunday afternoon in the main arena will decide the final placings.
