Switzerland's Felix Vogg Leads After Opening Round Of Land Rover Kentucky Three Day Event

Switzerland tops the leaderboard at the Land Rover Kentucky Three Day Event after the first
day of dressage Thursday. WUKY’s Samantha Lederman was on site and brings us this report.

Felix Vogg brought his horses over to the USA last February in order to prepare for the 2018
World Equestrian Games in Tryon, North Carolina and has not left since. However, his return
ticket is stamped for Sunday and how sweet would it be to take home the Land Rover Trophy
as a souvenir. He made a good start by leading the dressage phase on Thursday on his World
Games partner Colero, on a score of 28. Vogg’s farm at home is on the Swiss German border
where he trains with German rider Michael Jung, a winner of this competition no less than three
times. Last year during the event, Vogg spent time with Jung who advised him to compete
here.
F
US rider Liz Halliday-Sharp is in second place on Deniro Z after a beautiful test, marred only by
mistakes in the flying changes.

The youngest rider in the field, 24 year old Hallie Coon lies in fourth place on her mare Celien.
They have some international experience after competing in England and France last year but
nothing compares to Kentucky.
H
Dressage continues Friday and Cross Country starts 10:30 Saturday morning. The winner will
be decided in the Rolex arena over the show-jumps on Sunday afternoon.

Listeners might remember Lederman and her English accent from when she was a morning news anchor on WUKY from 1999 to 2001.
