Republican Sen. Rand Paul holds a commanding fundraising lead over his anticipated Democratic rival in the 2022 election.
Paul tweeted Tuesday that his reelection campaign saw a "record-breaking" fundraising quarter, raking in more than $4 million over the last three months.
Compare that to the $1.7 million reported by Democrat Charles Booker and it could spell early trouble for the former state representative’s uphill challenge to unseat a high-profile Republican in an increasingly red state.
Responding to the Paul campaign’s 2-1 fundraising advantage this quarter, Booker quipped online that his campaign will beat the Republican for “half the price.”
The Lexington Herald-Leader reports roughly half of Booker’s warchest came from out of state.
