Parking Scofflaws Have Til Friday To Atone With Canned Goods

LFUCG

Lexington's Parking Authority is putting out a last call for their Food For Fines Program.  WUKY's Karyn Czar has details.

Cans of food are pouring into Lexington’s Parking Authority. It’s part of the ‘Food for Fines’ program. So if you owe a parking fine you can get rid of it while helping out a great cause. Executive Director Gary Means explains how it works.

More than 4,000 cans have been collected so far this year in exchange for parking fines. Means says they are on track to match last year’s numbers and possibly beat that record of 65-hundred cans of food.

All the donations are being given to God’s Pantry. Drop offs are being taken from 8-5 through Friday at 122 North Broadway.
