Mayor Gorton Launches New Opioid Initiative

Karyn Czar

A new program using the latest technology to educate and hopefully prevent teens from using opioids and other drugs is ready to launch in Lexington. More from WUKY’s Karyn Czar.

A new app-based opioid education and prevention campaign for teenagers will launch this month in Fayette County. It’s called FEND and it stands for “Full Energy, No Drugs.” The mayor’s office is partnering with the Preventum Initiative.

You will be able to get the app for free at the Apple and Google Play stores. Teens will be rewarded for using it and can earn tickets to events, streetwear and gift vouchers. It’s funded grants, corporate sponsorships and private donations.
