Lexington's Second Salt Barn Is Open

Karyn Czar

The ribbon has been cut and supplies are pouring into the new wooden structure that will hold 7,000 tons of salt. Rob Allen, the Director of Streets and Roads said this will help save time and money when winter weather hits the Bluegrass. This new salt barn has been 20 years in the making. It’s twice the size of the city’s existing salt barn and is located next to the city’s West Hickman Wastewater Treatment Plant.
