Kentucky’s chemical weapons destruction facility has begun eliminating its stockpile of VX nerve agent.

The first munitions with the deadly nerve agent were destroyed at the Blue Grass Chemical Agent plant on Sunday. The plant in Madison County began disposing of its cache of decades-old chemical weapons in 2019. The facility has so far destroyed about 87 tons of deadly agent.
