Grimes Gunning For McConnell In Latest Ad

Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Alison Lundergan Grimes is gunning for Republican Minority Leader Mitch McConnell in a new TV ad.

Though he’s not on the ballot, President Obama has been at the center of the ad wars in the nation’s marquee Senate race, with McConnell eager to link the 35-year-old Secretary of State to an unpopular president in the Bluegrass. The latest ad from Grimes hopes to counter that image – with a little fire power.

"I'm not Barack Obama. I disagree with him on guns, coal, and the EPA," she says, turning to the camera.

In the ad, Grimes is shown skeet shooting as she attacks Republican efforts to portray her as an Obama ally.

In a statement, McConnell spokesperson Alison Moore  said, "An inexperienced Obama liberal with a gun is no less dangerous ‎for Kentucky families than one without. Much of Alison Lundergan Grimes' financial support comes from those seeking to implement gun control and wage the war on coal but cynically she believes a recycled TV ad idea will fool Kentuckians."

Most recent polls are giving McConnell a slight edge two months ahead of the election.
