There's a new twist in a long-running sexual harassment probe at the state capitol in Frankfort.
A legislative ethics hearing into accusations that former Rep. John Arnold sexually harassed legislative staffers has been postponed while his lawyer looks into whether Arnold might be suffering from dementia and uncontrollable behavior problems.
The Legislative Ethics Commission was scheduled Tuesday to hear the case regarding the 69-year-old former Democratic lawmaker from Sturgis. The Lexington Herald-Leader says Arnold's lawyer, Steven Downey, won an indefinite postponement on Monday, saying he needs to interview Arnold's doctors and study test results.
Arnold, who had served in the House since the mid-1990s, has denied the sexual harassment allegations but resigned from the House last year.
Downey said Arnold has suffered in the last three years from worsening cognitive and behavioral problems.
