Officials at the Office of Homelessness Prevention and intervention in Lexington have activated the Emergency Winter Weather Plan. The plan is activated when freezing temperatures are in the forecast. Shelters will remain open 24-7 for anyone who needs to get out of the cold and LexTran will offer free transportation to shelters while the weather plan is activated. Anyone who needs help can dial 2-1-1 and text your zip code for information on finding a shelter or other resources. You can also go to uwbg22.org for information. The Catholic Action Center’s Compassionate Caravan will also be offering rides to shelters. The Emergency Winter Weather Plan is in effect through Thursday.
