Downtown Lexington Park Project Gets Major Donation

Town Branch Fund

It will take about $30 million to create a planned 10-acre park in downtown Lexington near Rupp Arena. The nonprofit Town Branch Fund is closer to hitting that goal. The William Stamps Farish Fund has donated a half-a-million dollars to the project.

Farish, who owns Lane’s End Farm released a statement saying “Town Branch Park will accelerate the amazing renewal that has taken place to our downtown, which has experienced dramatic change and made our city a much more desirable place to live and work.” $9 million has been raised for the project so far. Plans for the park include an amphitheater, interactive waterways, art installations, trails, a dog park and children’s play area. A timeline for completion will be set once the funds have been raised but organizers hope to break ground within three years.
