Bevin Lays Out Priorities In Second Term If He's Reelected

Josh James

Republican Gov. Matt Bevin has laid out his top priorities if Kentucky voters give him a second term in next month's election.

Speaking to a gathering of county officials, Bevin vowed to shore up public pensions, modernize the state's tax code, improve adoption and foster care systems and repair roads and bridges.

Bevin says Kentucky is far from fixing its underfunded pension systems.

In a sign of how aggressive he plans to be, Bevin told the county officials that if they think state lawmakers have been tested in the past four years, "give me four more years."

Bevin is in a tough campaign against Democratic Attorney General Andy Beshear. Beshear was invited to join Bevin at the conference but instead campaigned in northern Kentucky.

The state's election is Nov. 5.
