Ashland Estate Holding Holiday-Themed Lighting On The Lawn Event Sunday

Dec 5, 2014

The people at Ashland, the Henry Clay Estate, have their fingers crossed for good weather on Sunday evening as the historic property is holding its fourth annual Lighting on the Lawn event.

Ashland officials, Mayor Jim Gray, and guest of honor Dr. Pearse Lyons will throw the switch on the estate's 100 foot Norway Spruce tree this Sunday evening.

“We will light our one hundred foot tall, one hundred and fifty year old live Norway Spruce tree, and we’ll have Santa there, we’ll sing carols, we’ll have Starbucks, we have Ashland mistletoe, and it’s a lot of fun for the whole family," said Ashland spokesperson Christina Bell.

Bell says some notable dignitaries will be on hand for the ceremony.

"Our 2014 Henry Clay Medallion winner for distinguished service is Dr. Pearse Lyons, a wonderful member of our community, and he will be lighting our tree so he and Mayor Gray will be flipping the switch on the lights.”

Festivities get under way Sunday at 4:45.  Bell says you’ll also be able to tour the mansion by candlelight later that night.  Additional information is available here.
