Every nine minutes, a young child goes to the emergency department because they ingested medicine incorrectly. To bring awareness to the importance of safe medication storage in the home, the Kosair Charities Face It Movement has collaborated with the Kentucky Children's Hospital (KCH) and Kentucky Injury Prevention and Research Center (KIPRC) on a new campaign aimed at preventing these accidental ingestions and keeping children healthy and safe. The World Health Organization recently declared monkeypox a public health emergency of international concern as the virus is now spreading throughout North America and Europe where it is not usually found. Lexington confirmed its first case of monkeypox on August 17th. While the risk for Kentuckians remains relatively low, everyone should be vigilant. Fortunately, there are steps you can take to protect yourself and limit the spread.
