Fayette County Public Schools and other districts canceled classes Friday, and the University of Kentucky campus closed as the city continues to recover from Thursday's winter storm. Governor Andy Beshear on Thursday declared a State of Emergency in Kentucky. WUKY's Karyn Czar spoke with Lexington Mayor Linda Gorton.

The snow began falling in Lexington around 10:30 Thursday morning but Mayor Linda Gorton told reporters the city's streets and roads department was already hours into its snow response plan.
