Law enforcement postponed a 3:00 p.m. briefing Wednesday, as no major developments appear to have emerged since their Tuesday update.
Police, troopers, helicopters, search dogs, and drones are all part of the ongoing operations through areas surrounding Daniel Boone National Forest – still believed to be Couch’s likely location.
Jittery residents continue to take precautions. While Rockcastle County Schools did reopen, it did so with increased security, a heightened police presence, no visitors, and locked doors. Laurel County Schools opted to stay closed.
"They've chose to do that just as a safety precaution. We can't advise the superintendents on what action to take. That's solely up to them. A lot of businesses, they're doing outside drive-throughs only and locking the doors," Root said. "You know, if anybody wants to take a precaution. That's that's really left up to them."
Still police warn citizens not to approach anyone they believe could be the suspect, who is described as 5'10" and 154 lbs. He is still considered armed and dangerous.
