In a Racial Justice and Equity Commission special meeting, officials did not directly address the recent shooting, but explained their process.

"Weekly we have a violence intervention team meeting. On every Wednesday, whenever there's a situation that occurs... that involves gun violence within our age purview," Kenneth Payne with One Lexington said.

Reaction to the Friday incident has involved crisis response advocates, Lexington Police, the Sheriff's Office, victims' advocates, and other community partners. Carama wrote that the team has reached out to every victim involved in the shooting that night.
