Open enrollment on the state’s health insurance exchange website kynect.ky.gov started Monday. Governor Andy Beshear announced last October that the portal, which was first launched by his father Governor Steve Beshear in 2013 and subsequently shut down by Governor Matt Bevin, would be back online.
"We encourage everyone to look at their quality healthcare options which we consider to be a basic human right,” Beshear said during a Team Kentucky press briefing last month. “Never has the need for quality healthcare been more evident than during the global health pandemic.”
Enrollment is open through January 15th, 2022. Kynect allows Kentuckians to access and compare state-managed health care options, apply for coverage and complete enrollment at one site. It’s also a chance for those who are already enrolled in the federal Medicaid and Medicare systems to switch to the state-based exchange.
