FCPS Leaders Are Gearing Up For The Upcoming School Year

Karyn Czar

The auditorium at Fredrick Douglass High School in Lexington was filled with principals, vice principals, teachers and other school leaders from across the district this morning for the opening session of the 2021 Superintendent’s Leadership Institute.  It was their first chance to hear from their new leader, Dr. Demetrus Liggins who is set to begin his role as the next Superintendent of Fayette County Public Schools later this month.

Jessica Greene is the Administrative Dean at Rise STEM Academy. “He’s got us on the right track,” said Greene “and just speaking back to Manny’s vision, speaking to what Dr. Helm led us through and knowing that we are on the right track and marching on as the theme is for this year.”

Dr. Liggins declined an interview with the media saying he wasn’t officially in charge just yet. His four-year contract has been signed and his first day on the job is July 26th.
