Hearing Held In Spurlock Disappearance Case

New details emerged today as the man investigators say is connected to the Savannah Spurlock murder investigation appeared before a judge.

23-year old David Sparks was led into Garrard District Court for a preliminary hearing this morning. Her family sat in the courtroom and listened to a detective describe how the mother of four was found last week. Spurlock’s body was left naked in a shallow grave, her hands and feet bound with tape, wrapped in a rug and garbage bags. The grave was discovered on the property owned by the suspect’s parents.

Spurlock was last seen leaving a Lexington bar this past January with Sparks and two other men. They all went to Sparks’ home. He told detectives that after his friends left, he fell asleep and when he woke up Savannah was gone. Blood matching Spurlock’s DNA was found at that home. Her body was found after Sparks’ father noticed a foul odor at the back of his property. He immediately called police. The case will now go to the Grand Jury. Sparks is being held without bond.
