2019 Legislative Session Begins Today

Associated Press

Kentucky lawmakers are in Frankfort and will gavel in the 2019 legislative session Tuesday at noon. After failed tries last year to reform the state’s public pension system, the issue is expected to be at the top of the agenda. School safety and tax reform are also top priorities this year for several lawmakers.

The session will last until the end of the week, then there will be a short break and congress will reconvene on February 5th and stay in session until March 30th. The second portion is the time-frame when committee meetings are held and new bills are proposed.

WUKY's political reporter Josh James will bring you daily updates from this year's legislative session.
