Income Taxes Are Due Today!

Associated Press

The deadline comes two days later than normal because April 15th fell on a Sunday and Monday was Emancipation Day which is a holiday in Washington DC. Despite the added time, some of you still may not be ready. You can file an extension form that will give you six more months to file.

Tax Attorney Rebecca Walser says that may give you more time, but it could cost you more money. “While you can extend the time to file your taxes, the government still expects you to make a payment of what your estimated tax liability would be. If you don’t make that payment, you will have penalties and interest charges racking up for those six months.”

So to keep the most of your money, file tonight by 11:59:59. If you need it, the extension form is 48-68.
