Former Vice Mayor Linda Gorton officially announced her decision to enter next year's mayor's race earlier today at a press conference in downtown Lexington.
Gorton says she plans to focus on improving city parks, tackling the opioid epidemic and strengthening the relationship between police and the public.
If she wins, Gorton would replace Mayor Jim Gray. Earlier this month, Gray announced that he's running for Congress and won't seek a third term as mayor.
To date, Councilman-at-Large Kevin Stinnett is the only person to officially announce he's running to succeed Gray.
Other names being mentioned include Vice Mayor Steve Kay, Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes, and former auditor Adam Edelen.
