Democrat Wants Inquiry Into Delayed Road Project

LRC Public Information

A Democratic lawmaker who says Republican Gov. Matt Bevin threatened him to switch parties has called for an investigation about why a road project was delayed in his district.

But state officials say they delayed all new state funded projects this summer over concerns the road fund would run out of money.

Rep. Kevin Sinnette told the House Investigatory Committee on Executive Actions on Friday that Bevin asked him to switch parties during a meeting in the basement of the Governor's Mansion last year. When Sinnette refused, he said Bevin told him there would be repercussions for him and his district.

Sinnette said he did not know if Bevin delayed the project to punish him. A spokeswoman for Bevin said Sinnette's testimony is "nothing more than the same old lies."
