Lawmakers To Meet Wednesday, Cancel Most Committee Meetings

Kentucky lawmakers have canceled nearly all committee meetings on Wednesday but still plan to meet later in the afternoon.

House and Senate lawmakers canceled the session on Tuesday after a winter storm piled up to 10 inches of snow in Kentucky's capital city. The cancellation moved to Wednesday the deadline for House members to file new bills in the short session that began in February and will conclude next month.

House and Senate lawmakers have been passing bills at a dizzying pace, including proposals designed to fight heroin addiction, allow local voters to temporarily increase sales taxes for construction projects, establish a medical review panel to screen malpractice lawsuits and implement a statewide ban on smoking in most public places.
